Heute zur Wahl des Bundespräsidenten wurde wieder reichlich über die Geschehnisse bei Twitter geschrieben. Einzelne Nachrichten können dabei immer mit Tags (Schlagworten) versehen werden, um die Nachricht in einen Kontext besser einordnen zu können.
Über eine sogenannte Twitterwall kann man alle Nachrichten sehen, die zum jeweiligen Zeitpunkt mit diesem Tag gekennzeichnet sind. So konnte man verfolgen was die anderen zur Wahl schreiben und es gab auch einige Politiker, die Live von der Wahl des Bundespräsidenten über Twitter berichteten.
Ungefähr 10 Minuten vor der öffentlichen Bekanntgabe durch den Bundestagspräsidenten wurde das Ergebnis bereits durch den Bundestagsabgeordneten Ulrich Kelber mit der genauen Stimmenanzahl verkündet. Ein paar Minuten später konnte man hören, dass einige Nachrichtenagenturen Horst Köhlers Wahlsieg bestätigten. Dies war jedoch dem Zuschauer schon recht klar, da man bereits die Vorbereitungen für einen eindeutigen Wahlsieg sehen konnte und Horst Köhler der Favorit dieser Wahl war.
Twitter konnte sich wieder als schnellstes Mitteilungsmedium für Nachrichten erweisen und war den klassischen Medien wieder einmal voraus.
Ob es politisch korrekt ist, Wahlergebnisse schon vor der offiziellen Bekanntgabe zu veröffentlichen sei mal dahingestellt. Klassische Medien wurden jedoch auch von Bundestagsabgeordneten kurz nach inoffizieller Bekanntgabe unterrichtetet, so dass man den Abgeordneten, der das Wahlergebnis über Twitter veröffentlicht hat, auch nicht verurteilen sollte.

Horst Köhler: 613 Stimmen
Gesine Schwan: 503 Stimmen
Peter Sodann: 91 Stimmen
Frank Rennicke: 4 Stimmen
