Nachdem Microsoft mit seiner Suchmaschine Live.com wenig Erfolg hatte, wird nun ein neuer Anlauf mit Bing versucht um Google Marktanteile streitig zu machen. Das ist für Microsoft auch bitter nötig. In Deutschland hatte die vorherige Suchmaschine von Microsoft gar nur einen Anteil von mickrigen 1,7%. Google dominiert den deutschen Markt mit einem hohen Marktanteil von 94,2 %. In den USA sieht es nicht ganz so katastrophal aus wie hier, immerhin schafft es Microsoft in den USA noch auf einen Marktanteil von 8,2%.
Aktuelle Suchmaschinenmarktanteile im deutschsprachigen Raum
Ob es Microsoft schafft den Abwärtstrend zu stoppen steht noch in den Sternen.Der erste Eindruck der neuen Suchmaschine Bing ist schon einmal recht positiv.
Das Suchfeld
Die Seite an sich ist sehr einfach und übersichtlich gehalten. Ein Hintergrundbild macht das ganze etwas freundlicher. Über dem Suchfeld stehen einem 7 Textlinks zu anderen Services von Microsoft zur Verfügung.
Etwas verwirrend ist der Link „Shopping“. Nach einem Klick landet man auf der Seite von ciao.de (wurde 2008 von Microsoft übernommen). Erwartungsgemäß, wie von Google gewohnt, sollte mir Bing ein Suchfeld anbieten und mir dann Produktergebnisse zu meiner Suche anzeigen. Hier sollte Microsoft noch etwas daran arbeiten. Der Nutzen eines Links auf eine komplett andere Seite, die nicht einmal ins Design von Bing passt halte ich für sehr fraglich. Aber wir sehen ja auch noch einen sehr großen Schriftzug „Beta“ der einem noch Hoffnung auf eine Verbesserung geben kann.

Im oberen Bereich unter dem Suchschlitz werden einem wie bei Google, Werbeanzeigen gezeigt. Direkt darunter ist der organische Bereich zu sehen. Ganz interessant ist dabei die linke Spalte. Hier können die Ergebnisse nochmals gefiltert werden. Sucht man zum Beispiel nach Opel, so erscheint auf der linken Seite ein Button mit dem Vermerk News. Darunter werden einem zudem verwandte Suchvorgänge angezeigt um ein besseres Suchergebnis zu erlangen.
Bing Suchergebnis: Weather Hamburg
Die US Version kann schon ein wenig mehr und macht es der bisherigen universelle Suche von Google gleich. Sucht man nach dem aktuellen Wetter in einer Stadt, so wird dies direkt in der Suchergebnisseite oben angezeigt. Auch zur Suche passende News, Bilder und Videos können in den Suchergebnissen auftauchen.
Geschwindigkeit
Die Seite ist sehr schnell geladen, doch dabei bleibt es auch nicht. Auch nach einem Klick auf die Lupe zur Suche werden die Suchergebnisse sehr schnell ausgegeben. In Sachen Performance zeigt sich Bing jedenfalls von seiner guten Seite.
Qualität
Die Ergebnisse von Bing bei einschlägigen Suchbegriffen sind allgemein nicht schlecht.
Und nun kommt das Aber:
Die universelle Suche bei deutschen aktuellen Themen lässt noch stark zu wünschen übrig. Wird nach „Europawahl“ gesucht, werden einem Wikipedia Artikel vorgeschlagen, aber keine News oder andere lokale Ergebnisse, wie zum Beispiel der Wahl-O-Mat. Mehr als die Standardseiten von Institutionen schaffen es bei Bing nicht auf die erste Seite.
Auch zensiert Bing recht brachial. Für bestimmte Keywords ist ein Filter aktiviert. Sucht man zum Beispiel nach „Sex Aufklärung“ so findet man nichts. Auf diesem Gebiet ist Microsoft wohl noch etwas unerfahren. Eine elegantere Lösung wäre hier wünschenswerter, als die „Schlag mit dem Holzhammer Methode.

Fazit
Momentan taugt Bing im deutschsprachigen Raum kaum mehr als zur Grundlagensuche. Schon bei aktuellen Ereignissen versagt Bing. Zudem haben die Entwickler Bing einen Suchfilter spendiert der radikal alles zensiert bei dem ein bestimmtes Wort auftaucht. Innovation sieht anders aus. Wirkliche Erneuerungen findet man eigentlich keine beim Vergleich mit Google.
Ob Microsoft mit Bing Google irgendwann Konkurrenz machen kann wird die Zukunft zeigen. Allerdings gibt es noch genug für die Entwickler zu tun.
Update
Nachdem ich heute Abend die Live Vorstellung Microsofts von Bing gesehen habe, muss ich sagen, dass Bing doch Potential hat. Da ich hauptsächlich nur die deutschsprachige Seite getestet habe, waren mir die meisten Features verborgen geblieben. Bei der US- Seite sind doch einige interessante Features dabei.
Für den deutschsprachigen Raum bleibt es bisher bei diesem Fazit, jedenfalls bis Microsoft es geschafft hat diese Funktionen auch hier bei uns einzuführen. Es ist nur noch eine Frage der Zeit bis das geschieht, so lange bleibt zumindest für den deutschen Sprachraum Google das A und O.
